Welcome to University Residences - Temporary Housing

Temporary housing is a normal part of the University Residences housing assignment process as enrollment and occupancy numbers are finalized. All new incoming students who have a signed housing contract by the housing application deadline are guaranteed a living space in University Residences for the upcoming academic year.

Temporary Housing

Based on availability, some students may begin the semester in temporary housing but will receive a permanent assignment as soon as possible. University Residences staff will assist students in moving their personal belongings to the new space.

Most students are reassigned by October Break, but in all cases, by semester break. The temporary room rate is set at University Residence’s lowest double room rate. However, once the student moves to a permanent space, the rate will be adjusted accordingly. Once a student is assigned to a permanent space they are expected to move within a 3-5 day time frame with staff assistance.

Roommates

Students assigned to temporary space in Purdue University Residences with a roommate are likely to receive a new roommate once they are moved to permanent space.
