Mission Statement of University Residences at Purdue University

Delivering a residential campus environment that provides opportunities for personal growth through relationships. We encourage the learning that occurs on the path toward giant leaps, launching Purdue students into the future as civically-minded global citizens.

From the desk of Barb Frazee, Assistant Vice Provost for Student Life

Welcome to University Residences at Purdue University. We’re glad you’re here! We have a long tradition of supporting Boilermakers while living on campus. It goes beyond comfortable accommodations and nourishing food. We support the academic mission of the university as well as enhance student success through resources, programs and partnerships.

Data shows that students who live on campus have higher GPAs and graduate sooner than their peers. You have a diverse community of professional staff and fellow students who are ready to help you. This is a time in your life when you are growing into adulthood as an individual and we want to support you as you learn to take your own small steps that will one day become giant leaps.

Our housing inventory offers a number of different options, both in affordability as well as preference. We are confident you will find the best fit for your own individual needs as you embark on this new chapter. We do our utmost best to accommodate you in order to help with any potential barriers to your success.
There is a shared Boilermaker spirit of leaving an impact, overcoming challenges with grit and resiliency, networking and building a community, caring for the well-being of yourself and others and developing your own unique skills of leadership and professional development. These are the pillars of the Steps to Leaps initiative of the Division of Student Life. We encourage students to embrace and adopt these pillars, and to take them forward in life long after graduation.

Once you are here, we hope you’ll stay with us and become involved in your community. Residence halls and apartments are grouped into neighborhoods, each with its own identity and traditions. They are Mosaic Mile, Champion Heights, Cornerstone, Legacy Lane and the District of Tradition. There are numerous ways to become involved, make friends, find work and enjoy campus life. All you have to do is ask, apply and actively participate to make friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.

Your years at Purdue will be filled with learning new things, both in and out of the classroom. You’ll work hard but you won’t be alone. Friends, instructors, advisors and mentors will be here to help you as you chase your dreams. Believe it or not, time will fly and before you know it, you’ll be ordering your cap and gown… preparing to say goodbye as you stroll across the stage and finally grasp that degree in your hand. We hope you won’t be a stranger after that final chorus of “Hail, Purdue.”

We love welcoming back our alumni to campus. You’ll always have a home here. We know you’ll be proud to show your family and friends where you spent years making fond memories. We’re preserving traditions and events to mark milestones throughout our history. If you live all four years of your undergraduate education in University Residences, you’ll be able to have a permanent name plate placed on the door of your room. We also have plaques of the many awards given to students by staff, displayed in our halls. We hope to get back to offering meals to alumni and re-opening our Guest Center in Cary Quad, in addition to homecoming tailgates, hall anniversary parties and other events that were put on hold in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We strive to make the connections we foster with you as students continue for years after graduation. It’s such a pleasure when alums come back with their children for a campus visit, preparing them for a bright Boilermaker future of their own.

We’re happy to answer your questions. Boiler Up!
