Day of Giving an Opportunity to Support Boilermakers

Purdue Day of Giving

University Residences and Purdue Dining & Culinary have provided generations of Boilermakers with innumerable personal and professional growth opportunities through employment, clubs, programs, retreats and more – many of which have been experienced by our readers. These foundational experiences provide a basis for future positive impact in families, workplaces and communities.

We invite our readers to assist the efforts of University Residences and Dining & Culinary to not only continue, but enhance these experiences for future generations of Boilermakers by making a donation on Purdue Day of Giving, scheduled for April 28. Our goal during this 24-hour social media blitz is to raise funds for the many programs that provide leadership, professional development and career-growth opportunities for students. Gifts help ensure that the relationships and experiences generations of students have benefitted from continue and evolve for the students of today and tomorrow.

Opportunities for impact include:

  • Sarah Johnson Outstanding Student Employee of the Year Fund. By endowing this fund, Dining & Culinary can ensure the continued legacy of Sarah Johnson’s dedicated service to the university by rewarding an exemplary Dining & Culinary student employee.
  • Men’s Leadership Series and Women’s Leadership Series, two elite leadership experiences for students living within University Residences. Since its inception in 2010, the women’s series has provided learning opportunities for more than 1,000 women. The men’s series has been providing the same opportunities since 2017.
  • The Executive-in-Residence program, which provides opportunities for students to make one-on-one connections with successful alumni. In addition to individual and group mentorship opportunities, the program is supported by a group of student ambassadors.
  • RAISE Awards, which help defray the cost of tuition for resident assistants.
  • Hall clubs, which govern and support students living in residence halls and provide leadership opportunities for senators, club executive board members and more.
  • The Dining Student Success Fund, which supports student development and training.
  • The Dining Staff Fund, which supports professional development opportunities for Dining.& Culinary staff and impact the student dining experience.
  • Any other area a donor wishes. Donations can also impact areas such as student employment and other significant learning opportunities.

Noting that a donation has come from an alumni of University Residences or Dining & Culinary between 1–2 p.m. and/or 9–11 p.m. can further the impact of the donation. The units with the most alumni donors during these times will be awarded bonus funds.
