Rick Brajer addresses a group of students in the Purdue Engineering Student Council during his last EiR visit.
Purdue students will have the opportunity to learn from successful Purdue alumni and participate in a new experience as part of this year’s Executive in Residence (EiR) programming.
EiR will welcome four successful Boilermaker alumni to campus, where they will work with students in a variety of settings according to their areas of expertise and interest, which range from corporate boardrooms to undercover operations. The hallmarks of the program are small group and one-on-one interactions. This fall’s EiR lineup includes alumni with expertise in topics such as healthcare, investing, public service and law enforcement. The lineup includes:
- Rick Brajer, healthcare CEO and former Secretary of Health and Human Services (North Carolina)
- Bruce Schecter, advisor, consultant and investor
- Erika Steuterman, Major General (retired), U.S. Air Force
- Brian Bryan, FBI special agent (retired)
Readers can learn more about participating executives by visiting this page.
Residents of the EiR Learning Community will work with Will Sheley, an accomplished senior leader and general manager with experience at well-known entities such as Visa and JPMorgan Chase & Co., in a new program that will simulate a startup company. Students will work in functional groups, learn about their strengths and work as a team to develop strategy and leadership models. They will meet regularly with Sheley for advice and mentorship on how to be successful while completing the assigned objectives. This unique opportunity gives Boilermakers the opportunity to turn concept into action through an experiential approach to learning and growth.
Looking ahead to spring, students will travel to Philadelphia and New York City to meet with executives during the fourth-annual EiR spring break trip. Students who participate in the trip will learn from Purdue alumni in their workplaces, communities and, in some cases, their homes.
Todd Montabana, managing director at Accenture, will serve as the primary host. Students will also visit Joseph Pabst, head of credit for Affinity; Margaret Chiosi, retired vice president of open ecosystem at Futurewei; and Joseph Chiosi, veterinarian and owner of Sayrebrook Veterinary Hospital. All executives serving as hosts on the trip continue to support students in University Residences after previously traveling to Purdue to participate in EiR.
EiR is also building out its slate of visiting executives for the spring semester. Stay up to date with EiR by visiting the program’s website.
