Summer Housing

Summer housing is available for undergraduate students who are taking summer session classes or who will be completing summer research for an academic department at Purdue University. Housing for summer interns can be found in a separate section on the side navigation menu of this page.

Due to the increased demand for summer session housing, double room occupancy only will be offered. All summer assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis (space permitting). Notification of summer room assignments will be sent on or around May 7th, 2021, to the student's Purdue email address.

Summer Start

New students admitted to the Summer Start program will be required to sign a Summer Plus housing contract for the summer and following academic year terms. Summer Start students will be housed in a double room and are required to have a roommate also participating in the Summer Start program. All efforts will be made to keep program participants together for the full academic year, but is not guaranteed. This program is available to new incoming students admitted to the program.

EL Science Scholars

New students admitted to the EL Science Scholars program will be required to sign a Summer Plus Housing Contract for the summer and following academic year terms. EL Science Scholar students will be housed in a double room and are required to have a roommate also participating in the EL Science Scholars program. Early Start

New students who opt to participate in the Early Start program and want to live in University Residences will be required to sign a Summer Session housing contract for the Early Start session and will be housed in a double room and are required to have a roommate that is also participating in the Early Start program.  

Early Start Important Note: If they plan to continue living in University Residences for the academic year, they will also be required to sign an academic year housing contract by May 5, 2021 at 11:55 p.m. EDT.  Students who sign an academic year housing contract by May 5, 2021, will be randomly prioritized in the housing assignment process for their academic year room assignment. This program is only available for new incoming students opting to start during summer.

Important Notes

  • Once you contract for summer housing, you will be expected to fulfill all the terms and conditions of the selected summer contracted session term.
  • After accepting your offer of admission, wait up to two business days to gain access to the housing contract.
  • Your room and meal plan charges will be assessed for the entire summer session term you choose and sign a contract for – regardless of late arrival or early check-out.  You will need to select one summer session term that best meets your housing needs.
  • Summer room and meal plan charges will be assessed and will appear in your MyPurdue account beginning in May.
  • Students who live on campus during the summer are required to take a 13-Meal Plan.
  • While we try to accommodate roommate requests, we cannot assure these requests will be met.
  • If you have a 2021-2022 Academic Year contract with University Residences, early move-in to your fall assignment may be available for an additional fee.

Meal Plan

A required 13-meal plan will be included in the 2021 Summer Contract.  Meal swipes may be used in any of the Purdue Dining & Culinary residential dining courts that are serving.  In addition to 13 meals per week, students will also receive an allotment of Dining Dollars, based upon the selected summer contracted session term. 

  • Summer meal swipes and Dining Dollars will start on the Monday breakfast of the contracted summer session term. 
  • Dining Dollars will be distributed on a pro-rated weekly basis for the contracted summer session term.
  • Dining Dollars are non-refundable. 
  • Dining Dollars will expire at the end of the contracted summer session term.
  • Dining Dollars will not carry over to the fall semester.
  • Dining Dollars may be used to purchase extra meals for themselves or their accompanying guest in Purdue Dining & Culinary residential and retail dining locations

Amenities

All summer assignments spaces will be air conditioned. Double rooms are study/sleeping rooms, not small apartments. Small electrical appliances such as coffee pots, popcorn poppers, mini-refrigerators, and microwaves are permitted in student rooms. As a reminder, all University Residence facilities are smoke free.

Parking

Students who have signed a 2021 Summer Session contract will be eligible to park in any designated University Residences parking space (look for the sign) at no charge.

Guest Policy

Due to the Protect Purdue COVID-19 policy, no guests are permitted during the 2021 summer term.
