Summer Housing

Summer housing is available for undergraduate students who are taking summer session classes or who will be completing summer research for an academic department at Purdue University. Housing for summer interns can be found in a separate section on the side navigation menu of this page.

Students may begin applying for summer school beginning February 17, 2025, in the housing portal

Due to the increased demand for summer housing, double room and triple rooms with shared bathroom will be offered. Singles will not be available. All summer assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis (space permitting).

Students who are living in University Residences for both a Summer School term and the 2025-26 academic year will need to plan to move to their academic year assignment around August 1-3 and will be assessed an early arrival fee beginning once the summer contracted period ends on August 10.

Summer school assignments will begin being sent May 7 or earlier.

Think Summer - Early Start, Emerging Leaders, Engineering Academic Boot Camp (EABC), HHS Connex, Pharmacy Education Program (PEP), Purdue Polytechnic Institute (PPI), Science Scholars

If you are participating in Boiler Gold Rush (BGR), you will be billed separately. 

Beginning Friday, August 22, 2025, academic year meal plan and housing rates will apply. Early arrival fees in August are waived for Think Summer contracted students only.

Notification of room assignments will be sent by June 11, 2025, to the student's Purdue email address.

  • Students participating in EABC, HHS Connex, PEP, PPI and Science Scholars will be assigned to Harrison Hall.
  • Early Start participants will be assigned to all other operating summer halls.

New students who opt to participate in the Early Start program and want to live in University Residences will be required to sign a Think Summer housing application for the summer term as well as an academic year housing application. You MUST complete an academic year housing application by May 5, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. EDT.

All efforts will be made to assign you to the same space for the summer and academic year terms for those students who complete both applications. If you are required to move for the academic year, your move will be coordinated on or around August 1-3. 

Students who sign a summer application only should plan to move out before August 10 at 5:00 p.m. EDT and will receive meals only August 10-15.

This program is only available for new incoming students opting to start during the summer.

 

Important Dates

  • April 15, 2025 - Priority deadline to sign a 2025-26 academic year housing contract.
  • May 1, 2025 at 11:59 PM - Deadline to sign up for summer housing and/or to cancel summer housing application without penalty.
  • May 5, 2025 at 11:59 PM - Deadline to sign a 2025-26 academic year housing contract.
  • May 7, 2025 at 12:00 PM - Assignment notification for summer school participants begin to be issued.
  • May 30, 2025 - Students who sign a Think Summer application after May 30 will receive a housing assignment, but it may not be with their program depending on space availability.
  • June 11, 2025 - Summer specialty program participants will receive their housing assignments for the summer and the academic year.
  • August 1-3, 2025 - Regular summer school students or students who have a different assignment for the academic year will need to move to their academic year assignment.

Notes

  • If you are planning to participate in a Think Summer program, you will need to wait up to two business days to gain access to the housing application.
  • Your room and meal plan charges will be assessed for the entire summer session term you choose and sign an application for – regardless of late arrival or early check-out.  You will need to select the summer term that meets your programmatic needs.
  • Summer room and meal plan charges will be assessed and will appear in your MyPurdue account beginning in May.
  • While we try to accommodate roommate requests, we cannot assure these requests will be met.
  • If you have a Think Summer and 2025-26 Academic Year contract with University Residences, early move-in to your fall assignment will be waived but should be coordinated through your assigned hall's main office. This only pertains to Think Summer contracted students.
  • Regular summer school participants may be asked to move to their fall assignment near the end of the summer session, on or around August 1-3 and may be assessed early arrival fees for August 10-22.

Meal Plan

A required 14-meal plan will be included in the 2025 Summer Housing Contract term. Meal swipes may be used in any of the Purdue Dining & Culinary residential dining courts that are serving.  In addition to 14 meals per week, students will also receive an allotment of Dining Dollars, based upon the selected summer housing contract term. 

  • Summer meal swipes and Dining Dollars will start on the Monday breakfast of the contracted summer housing term. 
  • Dining Dollars will be distributed on a pro-rated weekly basis for the contracted summer housing term.
  • Dining Dollars will expire at the end of the contracted summer housing term.
  • Dining Dollars will not carry over to the fall semester.
  • Dining Dollars may be used to purchase extra meals for themselves or their accompanying guest in Purdue Dining & Culinary residential and retail dining locations.

Amenities

All summer assignment spaces will be air-conditioned. Double, Double w/Shared bath, Triple, and Triple w/Shared bath rooms are study/sleeping rooms, not small apartments. Small electrical appliances such as coffee pots, popcorn poppers, mini-refrigerators, and microwaves are permitted in student rooms. As a reminder, all University Residence facilities are smoke/vape free.

Parking

Students who have signed a 2025 Summer Housing Contract will be eligible to park in any designated University Residences parking space at no charge for the summer only.
