All new incoming students who have a signed housing contract by the housing application deadline are guaranteed a living space in University Residences for the upcoming academic year. Due to the continued demand for on-campus living with returning students and a large freshman class, University Residences provides additional spaces for students with signed housing contracts.
Based on availability, some students may begin the semester in temporary limited term housing but will receive a permanent assignment as soon as one is available. It is anticipated that about 50 students may begin in limited term housing. University Residences staff will assist students in moving their personal belongings to the new space.
Most students are reassigned by October Break, but in all cases, by semester break. The limited term room rate is set at University Residence’s lowest double room rate. However, once the student moves to a permanent space, the rate will be adjusted accordingly. Limited term housing is not a choice to select from, it is used in the last few days to assign overages. Once a student is assigned to a permanent space they are expected to move within a 3-5 day time frame with staff assistance.
Students assigned to limited term space in Purdue University Residences with a roommate are likely to receive a new roommate once they are moved to permanent space.
