Spring Semester General Frequently asked Questions

If I cannot login and sign my contract today, will my chances of being assigned to my first preference choice decrease as time passes before I'm able to login?
Priority is established by the date the spring semester housing contract is signed.
I'm not certain that I am attending Purdue University. Should I sign a housing contract?
If you plan to attend Purdue University for the spring semester, you should sign a housing contract at your earliest convenience to establish your priority for assignment to University Residences. If you later decide not to attend Purdue University for the spring semester, you may cancel your signed housing contract by the new student spring semester contract cancellation deadline of December 1, 2021 at 11:55 p.m. EST. After December 1, 2021, your signed housing contract may only be cancelled if you are not attending Purdue University at the West Lafayette campus during the contract term. However, you will not receive a refund of the housing contract processing fee.
I am not attending Purdue University. How do I cancel my housing contract?
If your plans have changed and you will not attend Purdue University for the spring semester, you will need to cancel your housing contract online at the Housing Portal.

This will be reflected in your MyPurdue portal beginning in November. Current students presently living off campus: You will be assessed a nonrefundable $200 housing contract processing fee after you sign a housing contract. This charge will be reflected in your MyPurdue portal beginning in November. The housing contract processing fee will be waived for students returning to University Residences from Industrial Co-op, Study Abroad, Military or for a medical reason.
When is the deadline to sign a housing contract?

There isn't a deadline for students to sign a spring semester housing contract. However, priority for room assignment will be established by the date the spring semester housing contract is signed.

We cannot guarantee all students wanting to sign a spring only contract will be able to do so. We will monitor the numbers and may have to close the portal if space is no longer available. If this occurs, we will start taking requests for a waitlist.

Am I required to find a roommate before I sign my housing contract?
Students who do not have an accepted roommate request will be assigned with a roommate considering the responses to the Personal Preference questions you and other students have answered.
Are roommate requests guaranteed?
As space in University Residences is limited for the spring semester, it may not be possible to accommodate roommate requests.
When am I obligated to this housing contract?
Once you enter your Purdue University ID Number to sign a housing contract, this is considered a legal electronic signature. You may cancel your signed contract online until the cancellation deadline of December 1, 2021 at 11:55 p.m. EST. After the contract cancellation deadline, your signed contract may only be cancelled if you do not attend Purdue University during the contract period. Students will not be released from their housing contract to live in a sorority, fraternity, apartment, cooperative housing, private home, or other place of residence or as a result of a change in financial status.
