South Hall is connected to Hillenbrand Hall and located in the middle of a vibrant residential neighborhood, with many of our other residence halls within a short walk. Horticulture Park, the award-winning France A. Córdova Recreational Sports Center and all the exciting programming offered by Purdue Recreation & Wellness offer nearby opportunities for residents to stay active. Campus bus routes are a short walk away, making it easy to get anywhere on campus. The hall is also located near the Discovery Park District, a massive mixed-use development that includes dining establishments that residents can enjoy.
Rooms in South Hall include a mix of single, double, triple and quad-occupancy rooms arranged around centralized bathrooms, study areas, music rooms and a lounge. Additional amenities in South Hall include classrooms, labs, offices, lounges, study spaces, multi-purpose rooms and a game room. With the hall’s connection to Hillenbrand Dining Court and a Sushi Boss location located on the ground floor, residents also have easy access to different dining options.
Residents will have the opportunity to make history as part of South Hall’s first leadership team in 2026. The club will play an important role in establishing events and traditions that contribute to the hall’s identity. Events and traditions established in the near future could become beloved parts of the experience of living in South Hall and may be enjoyed by Boilermakers years from now.
Learning Communities
South Hall is home to several of Purdue’s learning communities, which serve as the living and learning home of more than 3,000 students in University Residences.
Participants in learning communities are provided with opportunities to connect with faculty, gain increased exposure to university resources and make connections in the Greater Lafayette community and beyond. Social events, study sessions, one-on-one connections with faculty and opportunities to connect with professionals in their field of study are among the hallmark experiences of living in a learning community.
Contributing to these learning communities are an array of faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members, including instructors, researchers, corporate partners, resident assistants and more. Residents of South Hall will find amenities and communal spaces that support these communities.
