Welcome to Tarkington Hall, a building of all men that boasts one of the strongest communities on campus! Originally built in 1958 under the original title of H-2, the hall was later named after Newton Booth Tarkington, a Purdue student of two years who as an alumnus, made multiple generous donations to Purdue.
The men of Tarkington continue Newton Booth Tarkington’s legacy of strong community with alumni groups coming back annually to visit the hall. Students of all years return to Tarkington Hall for the connections they’ve built. Tarkington alumni go on to be high achieving, innovative leaders in the world.
While no air conditioning may be a deal-breaker for some, there is a great alternative our students utilize to not only cool off their space but also, to meet their neighbors! With two box fans in the windows, one facing in and one facing out, and having the door open across the hall, students can create a breezy, cool space while meeting new friends in the process! Although the student rooms are not air conditioned, remember all common areas have central A/C so there is always a place to cool off if you need to.
