WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO OFFER GENDER INCLUSIVE HOUSING?
University Residences is committed to providing a safe, comfortable and supportive living experience for all students in our communities. Gender-inclusive housing options allow students the ability to choose a roommate of any gender. Gender inclusive housing options help further develop a residential climate that is positive, respectful and inclusive for all residents.
WHO CAN LIVE IN GENDER INCLUSIVE LIVING?
Gender-inclusive housing is voluntary and open to all students with a signed housing contract with University Residences. Anyone who has a respect and understanding of gender identity and gender expression can apply to live in Gender Inclusive Living. This housing is not intended to accommodate romantic relationships, and students are strongly discouraged from rooming with romantic partners.
HOW ARE ROOMMATES CHOSEN?
Applicants are encouraged, but not required, to self‐select their roommate. If you are unable to identify a roommate and would like to live in Gender Inclusive Living, residents will be matched based on answers provided by students during the housing contract application process in regard to personal preferences and housing preferences.
WHAT KIND OF BATHROOMS ARE THERE?
Gender Inclusive Living will be housed in suite-style rooms and apartments. In suites, bathrooms are shared between two rooms. In apartments, bathrooms are shared by 2-4 people in a single apartment.
