I’ve been president of the Boilermaker Chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) for two years, and I’m in the middle of my third. Throughout my time as president, I’ve seen NRHH build itself back up, as most organizations have had to do after the pandemic. With the support and guidance of our amazing advisor and leader, Jen Bannon, we have rebuilt NRHH on campus to having fun regular meetings, our annual induction ceremony, and more.
I see NRHH as an important sister organization to RHA - the Residence Hall Association. RHA operates on a larger scale supporting all Boilermakers that live in University Residences. NRHH focuses on those student leaders, in and out of RHA, that go above and beyond. To be inducted into NRHH, you need to be nominated. Once nominated, you would get an invitation to our spring induction ceremony. Our spring induction ceremony is one of my favorite parts of NRHH because I get to meet all the new inductees and welcome them into our special community.
I think the special thing about NRHH is that we offer our members an escape from their busy lives. Our biweekly meetings offer a mix of service opportunities, education, and, most importantly, relaxation. Our exceptional student leaders do so much in their busy lives to succeed academically and to simultaneously support Boilermakers living in the residence halls. NRHH meetings are usually very relaxed and laid-back to offer our members a space to breathe and unwind a bit. Our members do so much on campus; having an hour every other week to press pause, I think, is essential.
The NRHH experience wouldn’t be what it is without the support of our amazing and dedicated advisers. To close, I’d like to offer my sincerest gratitude to Jen Bannon, Zach Oborne and Adrian Raj. These three helps make everything we do at NRHH possible, and I am forever grateful for their support of the organization and all its members.
